How it works

   Upload your film

   Your film is transcoded and protected with commercial-grade DRM encryption (Widevine & FairPlay). It gets its own page on dearviewer.film — public, findable by search, and yours to share. It is never listed in a feed, never ranked, never recommended.

2. 02

   Set your price, share your page

   You decide what a ticket costs. We handle the rest — checkout, receipts, viewer support — and settle the proceeds to you. Every film gets the same treatment: one page, one price, the same protection as a festival premiere.

3. 03

   Viewers buy and watch

   Your viewer buys a ticket on the film's page and watches immediately — no account, no app, no ads. Each viewing entitlement is personal, time-limited, and carries the viewer's own watermark in the frame.

Private screenings

Some films are for everyone. Some are for one person.

The same film can also run as a private, invitation-only screening: a letter written to a specific viewer, a named invitation, a link that belongs to them alone. For previews, rough cuts, festival submissions — or the few people a film was actually made for.

What we believe

A cinema does not review the films it shows.

Dear Viewer is infrastructure, not a curator. We don't rank films, recommend films, or comment on films. We don't tell filmmakers what to make, and we don't stand between a filmmaker and their audience. The platform exists so that a finished film can reach the exact people it was made for — no more, no less.

The company

Dear Viewer is built and operated by Dear Viewer, an independent company registered in Hong Kong, China. The service is operated globally, with all infrastructure — servers, storage, and content delivery — located outside mainland China.
